During the last 10 years, the average middle-class families income rose 9.2% after inflation, but the typical families wage earners had to spend 6.8% percent more time at work to reap it. Without increasing from wives, the average middle-class family's income would has risen only 3.6%. The share of married women working full time rose from 41-46%.
