Tampa Bay Lightning star center Steven Stamkos suffered
a broken leg after crashing into the post in a game against the Boston Bruins
last Monday.
Stamkos was backchecking
on a play late in the second period when him and defenseman Dougie Hamilton.
The two players crash hard into the net trying to avoid the goalie.
Stamkos entered the day tied for the league's lead in
scoring with Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby. He also was to be a key player for
Team Canada at the Sochi Olympics.
On TV replays, Stamkos was telling his teammates that “It’s
Broken.” Only to find our after being rushed to the hospital that it actually
was.
It is really
tough to see such a respected and hard working player go down like that.
Stamkos is one of those players that everyone likes
because of his work ethic.
He is
scheduled to have surgery for the broken right tibia on Tuesday in Boston and
is out indefinitely.

Jurgen Klinsmann
has released the latest roster update on Monday before heading to Europe for
two friendlies over the next 8 days.
Klinsmann picked
only 7 players from the MLS to make up a 23 player team. Three of which are coming from the Seattle
sounder who were recently eliminated from playoffs as well one player from
the LA Galaxy who was also eliminated.
The sounders are
sending U.S. Men’s national team regulars, Clint Dempsey, Eddie Johnson and Brad Evans. Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez is back, for the third
straight year, hoping to help the team to victory. LA Galaxy star and U.S. favorite,
Landon Donovan was not put on the roster
due to an ankle injury.
The team is also
trying two new young goalkeepers Bill Hamid from D.C. United and Sean Johnson the Chicago Fire.
The US will faceoff Scotland in Glasgow on
Friday at 3 p.m. and then take on Austria four days later for the first time
since 1998.
