Nude photo went public on Facebook.

Nude Picture forces math and science teacher, and highly decorated Western Maine football coach to resign from his job on Monday morning.

It took only a short 10 minutes of Facebook publicity for Paul Withee, Oxford football coach, to force himself to leave his job.  Withee accidentally posted a nude picture of himself on Facebook which as meant to be privately sent to a friend.

A concerned parent of one of Withee's students saw picture and quickly notified the school district.  Although it was only a mistake, the Oxford community was still quite disappointed in Withee, who was the coach of a three time state championship football team.  Rick Colpitts,  Superintendent of schools in Oxford said that Withee was immediately put on a paid leave.  Soon after, he resigned from his job as a teacher and a football coach.

Paul Withee didn't intentionally post the picture, but he did so the school district had to take action and investigate.  "I feel badly for him, and wish him well." Colpitts said in regards to Withee.  Luckily, Paul Withee didn't have any students as friends on Facebook.

UNE crew team

A new crew team has been established by Sebastian Sannajust at UNE because of the school's convinient  location on the Saco River.
Sebastian Sannajust, captain of the new crew team at UNE said “When I came to UNE, I noticed a perfect place for crew, the Saco River.” Sannajust took the steps necessary to start up a team.  Crew is  very fast growing sport among colleges all over the world.  UNE crew hopes to develop fast enough so it can participate in the “Head of the Charles” race in a few years.
Many students are eager to join the crew team as an opportunity to try a new sport and to meet new people.  Taylor Marosi, a sophomore Marine Bio major, said, “I am excited to join the crew team, it’ll get me in great shape!”
UNE is offering two types of crew teams.  The recreational team is for kids who are interested in doing crew but don’t really know much about it.  And for those who have done it before and want a more competitiveness, there will be an actual team that will hold tryouts.  The season will be a year long.  During the winter, the team will be in the gym working out and preparing themselves for a very rigorous fall and spring training on the water.
The UNE community is proud to announce the first boat launch within the next two weeks.  It is important to sign up while you can.  The sign up process is easy.  You can see Brian Wallace in the Campus Center, or contact Sebastian Sannajust himself.

A rewrite of Kara's new story

A lunch lady became a hero when a forgetful 4th grader dropped his retainer in the trash at Vivian E. Hussy School last Monday.

The 4th grader, Devin Kelly, impatiently dumped his lunch tray into the large trash barrel, as he does everyday without remembering that he set his retainer on the tray while he ate. As the rest of the children in the cafeteria piled up their own trays into the garbage, it finally hit him that something was missing.

He soon realized his retainer was at the bottom of the barrel. The boy proceeded to raise his hand nervously. The nearest teacher quickly approached and he rushed to tell her why he was so upset. The teacher quickly sprang into action letting all the other employees know what had happened

Not long after being notified a heroic lunch lady was doing a headfirst dive into the trash can. The lunch lady was nothing but determined to find Devin's retainer while she dug through the trash covered in the day's lunch. Thankfully, she was one of the few people willing to dumpster dive for the piece of metal. The children and teachers quickly gathered around and cheered loud when she can out with the retainer and returned it to Devin.

Irony at its finest...again

Police and divers recovered a missing sign that read, "PLEASE DO NOT THROW THINGS INTO THE COVE" at the bottom of Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, Maine this past July.

Perkins Cove in Ogunquit Maine, a quaint peninsula filled with shops and restaurants, rarely sees police officers hard at work other than giving parking tickets to tourists trying to push the time limits of the spaces.  However one hot day in July, the Lobster Shack employees along with all the passing pedestrians found themselves trying figure out what was going on.

There were police officers lining the docks outside of the busy restaurant looking very concerned.  The boss of the restaurant was curious as to why there was so many police presence so he wandered outside to see what he could find out.  Politely asking a nearby officer what was going on, the officer simply replied with “Sir, we are looking for something.”  That short answer had everyone's minds racing as to what it could possibly be.

About an hour later everyone who was watching saw a scuba diver emerge from the water and hop up onto the dock holding what appeared to be a sign in his hand.  As he came off the docks everyone noticed exactly what the object was.  It was a sign that n all capital letters read “PLEASE DO NOT THROW THINGS INTO THE COVE."  Someone feeling rebellious the night before must have removed the sign from the post and tossed it into the water.

The workers of the Lobster Shack and the pedestrians all had a good laugh about it.  Many people just thought it was surprising to see the police put so much effort into finding this sign that said to not throw things into the water, at the bottom of the cove.  One might say that this is irony at its finest.

Luke Bryan tickets!

Tickets to see Luke Bryan in Bangor were three dollars, and many UNE students jumped on the once in a life time chance two weeks ago!

How often does anyone find cheap tickets for any event these days?  For any professional sporting event in New England, tickets can go from $60-$250.  For concerts, one would see many of the same prices.  New England is quite the hot spot for bands to come do live shows.  The fans are loud and they love all kinds of music.  With the popularity of going to see a live show quickly rising ticket prices are rising as well.  For the same concert in Connecticut or Massachusetts, any Luke Bryan fan was paying upwards of $50 just for a lawn ticket.  For any upcoming Luke Bryan concerts, tickets are starting at $65.

On a Thursday night, twitter and Facebook were buzzing with many status updates saying "Luke Bryan Tickets for $3.00, is this real life?" and "Just got Luke tickets for cheaper then dinner at McDonalds!"  These tickets were at record breaking prices for concert goers in the state of Maine. As to why these tickets were so dirt cheap, no one really knows the answer.  However, this was a great opportunity for many UNE students to go see the country entertainer of the year, Luke Bryan.  It is hard to say whether ticket prices will ever be this low again.  Music fans everywhere will just have to keep an eye out for those low prices.

New Hampshire Fishing License. Get One

Fisherman of New Hampshire, the season is right around the corner. You wont be able to fish without a license!  Contact the Department of Fish and Game as soon as possible to get your license!

What is a vacation without going on a relaxing fishing trip with the family?  Fishing is something that has been bringing families together for years now.  However, a license to fish in the state if New Hampshire is required.  For those under the age of 16, the license is free!  The day someones turns 17, a license is required to fish at all.  Anyone from the age of 68 or above is eligible for a permanent license to fish for life.  Anyone who falls in the ages between 16 and 68 must pay the $53.00 for a full year.  A 1 day license is $15.00, a three day is $28.00 and a 7 day is $35.00.  All for a tiny piece of paper that lets you fish in any freshwater area.

The state of New Hampshire offers a "Let's Go Fishing" class for any adults or youth who are first time fishers looking to get a license.  The class is no charge and you can take it at any of the New Hampshire fish and game offices.  In the class you will learn about the newest and best equipment, fish ecology, knot tying, and most importantly safety.  You can also be instructed in freshwater fishing, fly fishing, and ice fishing.  The ultimate goal of the class is to promote responsible and ethical outdoor behavior.

It is important to make sure a fishing license is present with you when you go out.  Remember, you need a license for fishing, not for catching.  As soon as the line hits the water, you are fishing.  If you get caught by  New Hampshire fish and game officer, they could give you a citation for as much as $175.00 and no one wants to pay that,  So just make sure to have your license at all times.   $53.00 isn't that much when you look at how much the penalty is.
